Python module for controlling West Mountain Radio CBA devices.
Download the driver package from above and run. Complete the file save to C:/CBAIII Drivers 2. Plug the CBA III (or recalibrated CBA II) into a USB Port using the supplied cable 3. A balloon will pop up at bottom right that says 'Installing Device Driver Software' 4. A balloon will pop up at bottom right that says 'Device driver software was. West Mountain Radio has developed a new tool to help perform these operations. The WMR Diagnostics Utility can pre-install all of the West Mountain Radio device drivers so Windows will recognize the device when plugged in. This tool can also download the newest drivers off the web. These devices can also interface to a host using the direct access driver. These drivers are static examples detailed in Application Note 197: The Serial Communications Guide for the CP210x. The CP210x Manufacturing DLL and Runtime DLL have been updated and must be used with v 6.0 and later of the CP210x Windows VCP Driver. We'd prefer to just release our Mac driver source, however Apple requires a special Kernel Extension Developer ID certificate to sign device drivers. I'll reach out to West Mountain Radio and ask them to put in a formal request to add their new VID/PID to the Mac driver. AFAIK it's free, so I don't expect any issues. For example something like HamLinkUSB (Timewave) or RIGtalk (West Mountain Radio). I am starting consider moving most of the radio control over to native USB given that most PCs/laptops come with a limited number of serial ports and that most of the Linux distros only natively support 4 ports.
Project description
wmr_cba is a Python library for controlling a West Mountain Radio CBAIV.
libusb is used, tested in both Linux and Windows. A simple Linux udev rules file is provided, as well as a Windows libusb WinUSB driver. See the /drivers/ folders of the GitHub repo for these files. Windows users can also use the Windows drivers provided by West Mountain Radio, achieved by ctyping the West Mountain Radio driver DLLs.
This was developed by following the SDK of the CBAIV provided by West Mountain Radio.
